PITTSBURGH (AP) — An Ohio man convicted of ramming a dump truck through the security gate of the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office nearly two years ago has been spared additional jail time.
Fifty-year-old Thomas Ross, formerly of New Waterford, was sentenced Monday to time served and six to 12 months in a residential drug treatment program.
A federal judge also ordered him to pay $45,000 in restitution, including $20,000 to the FBI.
Ross pleaded guilty earlier to willfully injuring or committing depredation against property of the United States in the July 2016 crash.
Ross also was sentenced to time served after pleading guilty earlier to state charges of fleeing and eluding and simple assault.
His lawyer has said Ross was “out of his mind” on a combination of drugs and was “clearly desperate.”
