CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) — The manslaughter trial of a white man who is accused of fatally shooting an unarmed black man during a dispute over a parking space is beginning in Florida.
Lawyers will begin the process of selecting a six-member jury on Monday to hear the case of 49-year-old Michael Drejka. He’s accused of shooting Markeis McGlockton in July 2018.
Prosecutors say Drejka confronted McGlockton’s girlfriend for parking in a handicapped space. Convenience store video recorded McGlockton leaving the store and shoving Drejka to the ground. Seconds later, Drejka pulled a handgun and shot 28-year-old McGlockton as he backed away. McGlockton ran inside the store, where he collapsed and died.
The trial is expected to last two to three weeks.

In my opinion This man is guilty of Murder! If he had no intention of using his gun he would not be of carried it with him! He was real quick to use it against an unarmed man! Well?
He has issues with people parking in handicap parking areas! He seeks people out to confront them! He started it by getting in the woman’s face! Whatever she said to him was just words to ward off this stranger threatening her! Her husband/ boyfriend was protecting her from that menacing man! The video shows that man in her face pointing his finger in her face!
The video shows the husband/boyfriend backing up away from him! Defense says he was taking a defensive move, but what I see is him backing up away from him!
He initiated this whole scenario by taking it upon himself to enforce the handicap parking situation! Also proof of his initiation was walking around the vehicle! What would he have done to the vehicle if nobody was inside the vehicle? Would he have possibly damaged it in someway? Makes him look very suspicious of him doing this!
So, Directors dispenser attorneys are saying that we should all go round with weapons and actors vigilantes on the handicap parking areas? Why not just let the police issue the tickets have the people paid the fines instead of Drejka going around handicapped areas and threatening people?
Drejka needs to be stopped! I’m disabled and hate it when non disabled people park in the handicapped parking areas, but I don’t go around seeking the people out and confronting them or shooting them! I’ve left notes on vehicles, reported their plate & vehicle info to the store manager or police dept to do something about it! Drejka went to far! It was to easy for him to shoot someone!
OMG! Please. Defense is not very smart! How dare they say she started it when Drejka was casing the vehicle her and her children were in! I would of said a few choice words to him if it was me!
Now, for his so called “stance” the defense was saying it was a “defensive stance”… is not! Look at it! Body language, His hands are open, down by his side, hesitant, waiting to see what Drejka was going to do next!
Now they bring in race! Shame on them! I really have so many questions! Common sense questions.
I hope the defense doesn’t ignore the fact that negligent mother, Brittany Jacobs, failed to use her vehicle to move her children away from the angry man. That’s the scenario where no one gets hurt and everyone goes on their way. Instead, she unlocks the door, opens the door and squares off for a ghetto beatdown. Some mother.
