OCILLA, Ga. (AP) — A hearing has been set to determine how a case will proceed against two men accused in the slaying a Georgia high school teacher who vanished 13 years ago.
The Monday hearing will determine if most charges should be dropped against the men because too much time has passed since former beauty queen Tara Grinstead’s disappearance. Grinstead disappeared from her Ocilla home in 2005, and her case was the focus of the podcast “Up and Vanished.”
News outlets report 33-year-old Ryan Alexander Duke was indicted last year on charges including murder in her death, and Bo Dukes was indicted on charges including tampering with evidence. The judge at the hearing also will determine if the trial venue needs to change from the county where the 30-year-old Grinstead taught.
