A Colorado teen girl is being held without bond after a young boy’s body was found hidden inside his family’s home, according to officials.
The 16-year-old girl — whose identity wasn’t released because she’s a minor — was ordered to remain in jail Thursday on suspicion of murder in the death of 7-year-old Jordan Vong at his Denver home, WLTX-TV reported.
Prosecutors are still investigating the case and have not formally charged the girl in Vong’s death.
Vong was found dead Tuesday night the day after he was reported missing from his home. His family notified police around 4:30 p.m. Monday claiming they hadn’t seen him for two hours.
Police obtained a search warrant to enter the family’s home Tuesday and discovered his body hidden, according to officials.
“It was intentionally concealed, and it took some time to find it,” Denver Police Commander Joe Montoya said.
It’s unclear what the relationship was between the teen girl and victim.
Authorities said she was taken into custody Wednesday morning after they found evidence connecting her to his death, according to news station KDBR.
A GoFundMe page created to raise money for Vong’s funeral called him the “sweetest and silliest little boy who had so much to offer.”
